Leeds Castle chief executive Victoria Wallace will stand down from her role in October.

Mrs Wallace, who lives locally, has worked at the attraction for 10 years, but a statement says she is leaving to take on a new job.

She said: “It has been the most wonderful experience and I am so grateful to the charity’s trustees for putting their faith in me.

“They’ve given me and the team the opportunity to make this fantastic place more accessible to visitors, closer to the community, more vibrant and proud of both its glorious past and its exciting and inspiring future.

“I will miss the castle and its amazing staff enormously.”

New attractions brought in during her tenure include Knight’s Glamping, a medieval themed upmarket campsite, and the Go Ape! obstacle course.

Niall Dickson , chairman of the Leeds Castle Foundation, said: “Victoria has done a first class job for during her 10 years at the helm.

“She has been a great ambassador and an inspiring leader who has worked with our wonderful staff to create a fantastic experience for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come here every year.

“Thanks to her vision, we have an exciting programme to build on her legacy, which will make the most of this very special place.

“We wish Victoria well in her new role and we are confident that she will do great things there as she has done for Leeds Castle. We will begin the process of recruiting her successor in the near future. “
