Maidstone: Man injured after crash on M20 close to junction 8 for Leeds

A man has been freed from his car after ending up in a ditch next to the M20 this afternoon.

Police were called to the London-bound carriageway shortly before midday, after a car left the motorway close to the junction 8 slip-road.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to free the driver, who was trapped because of his injuries.

Traffic was brought to a standstill as emergency services closed the road, to allow the air ambulance to land.

Meanwhile, queues formed on the coastbound carriageway, which was closed for a short while after a dog was spotted.

The road re-opened later Sunday afternoon. The condition of the driver is currently unknown.
