A lorry driver was lucky to walk away uninjured... but was handed an on the spot fine after his vehicle left the motorway and plunged into some trees.
The HGV went off the M20, between junctions 8 for Leeds and 9 for Ashford, at 4.30am.
It went into some trees on the side of the coast-bound carriageway and a member of the public immediately called the police.
The vehicle is currently being recovered and one lane on that stretch of motorway is expected to remain closed until midday.
The driver did not suffer any injuries and was reported for careless driving.
He paid a graduated fixed penalty notice to officers at the scene and police say the matter is now closed.
