Part of the M20 will be partially closed tonight to prepare for the installation of temporary traffic gates.
The maintenance will see the gates put in the central barriers between the carriageways as part of Operation Brock.
The closure will be between Junction 7 for Detling Hill and 9 for Ashford, in both directions.
Operation Brock is a set of contingency measures designed to help keep traffic flowing on the motorway if there is disruption.
The work will take place between 8pm and 6am every evening from tonight until Thursday.
One lane will be closed London bound but two lanes will be available for traffic.
