A Maidstone singer set to appear in the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent has previously appeared on The X Factor, it has emerged.

Adam Chandler, 28, will take to the stage tonight as part of Jack Pack, a four-piece swing band singing smooth jazz hits.

But after telling the panel of judges that they had never performed in public before, the singers' successful past has come under fire in the tabloids.

Barman Adam, a former pupil at Aylesford School in Teapot Lane, is no stranger to TV audiences, having performed to millions as part of The X Factor band Futureproof, which reached the live finals in 2007.

The group went on to complete a UK tour, singing in front of half a million fans over 27 shows in venues including the 02 and Wembley Arena, and has supported the likes of Westlife, Tom Jones, The Sugar Babes and Boyz II Men.

He also works as a wedding singer, returning to his love of jazz hits.

But despite being an accomplished performer, he maintains Jack Pack had never sung in public before their Britain’s Got Talent audition.

This week he told kmfm: “I’ve done a bit of performing around Kent.

“We’ve all gigged individually before performing as a group, but that wasn’t our only job.”

In an interview with Showbiz 411 about his X Factor past he said: “It is all over the internet so I’m not trying to hide anything. The difference this time round is the love of music, it’s swing and these are three guys I get on with.”

Jack Pack will be singing on Britain’s Got Talent tonight at 7.30pm on ITV for a place in the final.

They sailed through their first audition with a smooth performance of Frank Sinatra's That's Life.

They will be up against eight other acts including drag performers La Voix and the London Gay Big Band, Meatloaf tribute group Peatloaf and Elaine and latin dancers Kings and Queens.
