A Maidstone swing singer did it it his way and got through to the final of ITV talent show Britain's Got Talent last night.

Adam Chandler, 29, took to the stage with four-piece band Jack Pack, whose performance of the Frank Sinatra classic was the "performance of the evening" according to judge David Walliams.

The group was up against eight other acts in the semi-final, but came out on top in the public vote.

It means they are one step closer to singing at the Royal Variety Performance.

After finding out they would be performing in the final, the band told hosts Ant and Dec: "We want to thank the British public for voting for us. We are totally overwhelmed. We've got to go and rehearse."

Barman Adam, a former pupil at Aylesford School in Teapot Lane, is no stranger to TV audiences, having performed to millions as part of The X Factor band Futureproof, which reached the live finals in 2007.

The group went on to complete a UK tour, singing in front of half a million fans over 27 shows in venues including the 02 and Wembley Arena, and has supported the likes of Westlife, Tom Jones, The Sugar Babes and Boyz II Men.

He also works as a wedding singer.

The second act to go through was salsa dancing pair Paddy and Nico, after Amanda Holden sided with David Walliams and Alesha Dixon in the judge's vote.

The two acts will join Bars and Melody, Lettice Rowbotham, Lucy Kay, Yanis Marshall, Arnaud and Mehdi, James Smith, The Addict Initiative, Collabro and Darcy Oake in the finals on Saturday, June 7.
