Maidstone United boss Jay Saunders says his side need to win their remaining four games if they are to stand a chance of avoiding Ryman League Premier Division relegation.

The Stones are seven points from safety after a 1-0 home defeat against promotion-chasing Canvey Island last weekend and things will get little easier when play-off chasing Concord Rangers visit Homelands on Saturday.

Maidstone have earned just five points from a possible 57 at home this season and this will be their penultimate chance to avoid the ignominy of a winless campaign on their own turf.

Defeat for Maidstone and victory for fifth-bottom Horsham at Hendon would see the Stones relegated and Saunders (pictured) said: "We have got to win. It’s as simple as that.

"We are running out of games and it could all be over by the end of the weekend. We will set up to win the game and are confident we can do it.

"The home record is madness. I’ve never known anything like it before. We have got to try and get that win as soon as possible. We have got to win every game if we are to have a realistic chance of staying up."

Saunders is set to be confined to the dugout with a groin problem and Gary Wharton (hamstring) is also a doubt. Adam Burchell serves a one-match ban and Ronanye Marsh-Brown serves the second and final game of his suspension. Jay May should return after the birth of his child.
