A McFlurry of activity has started on the site that will become Maidstone's first drive-thru McDonald's.
Diggers have torn through the former Renault garage which stands on the corner of Barker Road and The Broadway.
The work is paving the way for the new £4m restaurant which will bring more than 65 jobs to the town and bosses are already hiring.
A new two-storey building, which will include the drive-thru is expected to be complete by December.
The work comes as McDonald's Restuarants Limited lodged an application for a license for the premises.
Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells Licensing Partnership will now look into the application.
The garage has stood empty since the car dealership moved to Park Wood in August 2011.
A franchise spokesman said: “Those people employed at our new restaurant will have access to leading training schemes and the opportunity to gain qualifications ranging from certificates in Maths and English to a Foundation degree in Managing Business Operations.”
The new restaurant will bring the number of branches in the town to three, however there are no plans to alter its existing ones in The Mall and Week Street.
A McDonald’s spokesman added: "This represents a significant £4m investment in Maidstone, a town with which we have had a long and positive relationship."
