A 70-year-old Maidstone man has been charged after a collision in which a level crossing signalman was badly injured.
The incident happened at East Farleigh crossing in Farleigh Lane in April, when a vehicle struck the gate which in turn hit the railway worker as a train approached.
Doug Caddell, 62, from Folkestone was knocked to the ground leaving him unconscious with a severe head wound and a hangman’s fracture to two of his vertebrae.
This week Rodney Spicer of College Avenue received a summons to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court to answer a charge of driving without due care and attention.
He will appear there on October 5.
