Man accused of assaulting officer due in court

A man accused of assaulting a police constable as well as stealing beer, spirits and a power tool is due to appear in court today (Thursday).
Darren Taylor, 30, of Bow Road, Wateringbury, was arrested at 3.34am yesterday (Wednesday) in Hartnup Street.
He was charged with theft of beer from a shop in Gabriels Hill, as well as stealing a total of 11 bottles of spirits from an Allington shop across two separate occasions.
Mr Taylor is also accused of stealing a power tool from a store in Barker Road and assaulting a police constable at Maidstone Police Station.
He has been remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Magistrates' Court.
