Drugs with a street value of about £2,000 after police raided a home.

Officers arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and seized class B and C drugs after the raid in Springwood Road in Barming.

The raid on Wednesday was the latest in an ongoing police operation in Maidstone to crack down on drug dealing around the town.

Since July 1, 33 people have been arrested for alleged drug offences.

In the latest haul police seized a large quantity of cannabis resin and meth amphetamine, along with other drug paraphernalia.

The 35-year-old man has been bailed to Maidstone police station until October 22 pending further inquiries.

A 48-year-old man was arrested the same day on suspicion of possessing cannabis and amphetamine after being searched when he set off a knife arch, in operation at the Day Centre in Knightrider Street.

Insp Adam Jones said: “These arrests are further proof of our ongoing commitment to crack down on drugs in Maidstone. Although we are six weeks into this operation, we have lost none of the momentum and where we receive intelligence about drug dealing we will act upon it swiftly. Similarly, the knife arch is tackling this problem from a different angle but is still reaping results.

"The effect that this operation has had is already being felt and making a real difference to the local community and the quality of life of residents.”
