Man charged with two attempted murders after men 'struck by car' in Maidstone town centre

A man has been charged with attempted murder after two men were reportedly struck by a car in the centre of Maidstone.
Police were called in the early hours of yesterday morning to the Station Road area of the town.
Emergency crews arrived shortly before 12.30am and one of the alleged victims was treated for head injuries.
He was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
A second alleged victim was taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
A police spokesman confirmed a Vauxhall Corsa was stopped by officers at services on the A299 in Faversham shortly after 2am.
They added: "The occupants, three men and a woman, were arrested and taken into custody.
"Anthony Deeprose, of of no fixed address, was charged today with two counts of attempted murder, assault by beating, failing to stop following a collision in which a person was injured, disqualified driving and driving without insurance.
"The 29-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court tomorrow."
Two men aged 21 and 35 who were also arrested in connection with the incident were bailed to return to the police station on February 6 next year.
A woman who was detained was released without charge.
Station Road and Week Street were originally taped off between Staceys Street and Brenchley Gardens.
Week Street reopened yesterday with the station being accessible from that side.
Station Road remained closed while investigations continue.
