Man charged with parcel bomb killing

A 71-year-old man has apppeared before magistrates at Maidstone accused of murdering a Kent housewife almost 20 years ago.
Keith Cottingham is charged with killing 53-year-old Barbara Harrold with a parcel bomb at her home in The Street, Ightham, near Wrotham, in 1984.
Mr Cottingham, who had been extradited from his home in Alicante, Spain, was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on Friday, November 8. The trial is expected to be held next April.
