Man faces murder charge

A 28-year-old man is to appear in court today charged with murdering 66-year-old Richard Cromarty who died after being stabbed at his home in Kingsley Road, Maidstone, last week.

Sherzad Jamal Muhamed, unemployed, also of Kingsley Road, Maidstone, will appear before magistrates at Maidstone. Police will be seeking a remand in custody.

Mr Cromarty, a single man, staggered into the street at about 10.30pm last Tuesday and collapsed. He was taken to Maidstone Hospital but died about an hour later.

A post mortem examination later confirmed that he died from multiple stab wounds.
