Man in river death tragedy

A MAN in his 50s died after he fell into the River Medway as temperatures plunged on Sunday night.
The man, who has not yet been named, is thought to have been stepping between boats moored near Fairmeadow, Maidstone, when he slipped into the water at about 9.30pm.
Police and ambulance crews quickly arrived at the scene and the man is thought to have been in the water for no longer than 10 minutes before a police officer pulled him out.
He was taken to Maidstone Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
