POLICE officers talked a young man down after he threatened to jump from the fourth floor of a Kent shopping centre. The man, who has not been named, threatened to throw himself from a ledge at the Chequers centre in Maidstone yesterday afternoon.

Police spent more than two hours talking to the man, who was in his early 20s.
