A father-of-three who punched a woman’s wing mirror in a road-rage attack has been ordered to get treatment for his violent behaviour.

Milkman Christopher Dance, 28, responded angrily after the woman sounded her horn at him because she believed he was using his mobile phone and driving erratically in Fairmeadow, Maidstone.

Dance, of Boxley Road, Maidstone, then cut in front of her and hit his brakes hard before getting out to shout a tirade of swear words on Wednesday, February 4.

He drove off and went on to verbally abuse and threaten violence against a woman working at the Virgin Media store in the Mall Chequers. He appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to criminal damage and using threatening behaviour.

Katie Sanways from the Crown Prosecution Service, told Maidstone Magistrates Court Dance caused £300 damage to the woman’s car.

“Following that he went into the Virgin Media shouting ‘where is my phone and installation date’,” she said.

“He told the victim 'I will smash your face in. I will get people to smash your face in. I will get my sister to smash your face in'.”

After a lengthy row he left the store with a refund for the services he was unhappy with. Dance was arrested the following day and charged two weeks ago.

Defence solicitor Rebecca Helliwell said: “The alleged manner of driving he takes issue with.

“He wasn’t charged with careless driving or anything like that. He would say she was the one driving in the erratic manner. He accepts his behaviour is unacceptable and has told me he feels very ashamed of what he has done.” Dance has apologised to both victims.

Jean Sanderson, chairman of the bench, sentenced him to a one-year community order and 40 hours of rehabilitation for violent behaviour.

He was also ordered to pay £300 in compensation to the victim in the car, £100 to the woman in the shop, plus £85 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
