M20 delays near Ashford after car goes up in flames

One lane was closed on a busy motorway after a car caught fire.
Traffic was slow on the M20 eastbound between junctions eight and nine as emergency services tended to the incident.
Delays were reported between the exit for Leeds Castle / Maidstone Services to A20 Fougeres Way in Ashford.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said “We were called to reports of a car on fire on the M20 between Junction 8 and 9 eastbound, near Ashford.
“Two fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
“There were no reported injuries, and the cause is not yet known.”
