MP Ann takes on the girl gangs
09:42, 18 September 2008
Ann Widdecombe is due to take on girl gangs tonight in her latest TV venture.
The Maidstone and the Weald MP says she was shocked by the behaviour of gang members she interviewed for an ITV investigation.
Recent government statistics show that over the past three years, crimes carried out by girls, some as young as 10, have risen by 25 per cent, with girls committing violent attacks against people increasing by a staggering 50 per cent.
Ann said: "The thing that shocked me most was the girls' complete inability to comprehend that carrying a knife was not normal and correct behaviour, and their complete inability to empathise with their victims.”
Ann Widdecombe versus Girl Gangs is on ITV1 tonight at 9pm.
