Jools Holland's annual Hootenanny filming in Maidstone today
11:00, 07 December 2016
Jools Holland will be ringing in the New Year a little early today as filming of his annual Hootenanny takes places tonight - more than three weeks in advance.
The pre-recorded show will be filmed at BBC's Maidstone Studios today.
This year's star-studded line up features Christine and the Queens, Rag'N'Bone Man, Gregory Porter, Chaka Khan and Seasick Steve, who will all perform on the pre-recorded concert.
Since the show's launch in 1993, guest appearances have included Paul McCartney, Adele, Tom Jones and Paloma Faith. Holland is a deputy lieutenant of Kent and lives at Cooling Castle, near Rochester.
The show will air on New Year's Eve at 11.20pm on BBC 2, and will run into the New Year.
It is said to be an "idealised New Year’s Eve party with a line-up that would surely be impossible to deliver on December 31,” by the BBC, who admit the show is not broadcast live.
Also appearing on this year's show will be Roy Wood, Rag'n'Bone Man, Gregory Porter, ABC, Dr. John Cooper Clarke & Hugh Cornwell, Caravan Palace, as well as Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey from UB40, Imelda May, Ruby Turner, and the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards.
