Maidstone man and woman arrested after racial abuse and threats in town centre

A man and woman have been arrested after allegedly racially abusing and threatening another man.
At around 10pm on Wednesday an off-duty officer spotted the victim being verbally abused in Broadway, Maidstone.
Two suspects allegedly threatened to stab him.
After sharing a description of the pair to patrols, two people were identified in Marsham Street.
A 45-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman from Maidstone were arrested and remain in custody.
No weapons were located on either suspect.
A spokesman from Kent Police said: "Kent Police takes a zero-tolerance policy towards any crime motivated by hate and prejudice and uses specially-trained officers to deal with incidents of this nature."
