Physical Force triumphs for Best
00:00, 11 January 2002
MAIDSTONE trainer John Best maintained his excellent form on all-weather tracks when Physical Force won at Lingfield on Saturday. The four-year-old, ridden by the promising Tom Best, no relation to John, won by three lengths in a two-mile amateur riders handicap that attracted a field of 14.
He was backed down to 9-4 favourite and is owned by professional gambler Steve Lewis-Hamilton. It was Best's second win on the all-weather surace in less than two weeks. Just before Christmas Redisham, a three-year-old owned by Daily Telegraph racing journalist Tony Stafford, won a mile maiden race at Southwell. Redisham, who was ridden by Simon Whitworth, has since been sold and will run in Saudi Arabia.
Best is still planning to have runners both on the Flat and over jumps in France in the spring.
