Plans have been submitted for a 69-bed care home on land formerly used for Park and Ride services.
The proposed three-storey development by Porthaven Care Homes would be built north of Sittingbourne Road at Eclipse Park in Maidstone.
Surrounded on all sides by fully-accessible landscaped grounds, the care home would have 23 en-suite bedrooms on each floor along with facilities including a communal lounge, hair salon, private dining room, library and cinema.
A car park to the south west of the site would have spaces for 30 vehicles as well as storage for bicycles.
The site is situated south of the M20 and is also home to a Marks & Spencer store which opened last summer and a Next.
In 2016, the number 506 Park and Ride service came to an end after Maidstone Borough Council failed to reach a deal with Gallagher Properties, the landowner, for a renewal of its lease.
The site of the proposed care home had previously been earmarked for a 150-bedroom hotel, which was given planning permission by councillors in 2010.
A decision on the care home plans, which were submitted in December, is due to be made by April 13.
