A popular Mexican fast food chain could be coming to Maidstone.
Plans have been submitted for a Taco Bell to move in to Week Street.
The American company has submitted a change of use application to the borough council to move into the vacant Finch House Cafe and Bakery unit.
The building, next to CEX and Pickwick Jewellers & Pawnbrokers on the pedestrianised street, has been empty since October 2018.
Before development plans can be approved, the alteration in the use of the building from a bakery and café to a restaurant and hot food takeaway must be accepted.
If approved, the restaurant, which serves a variety of meaty and meatless burritos and tacos, will have to compete with a range of other takeaway chains nearby, including McDonalds, KFC and Burger King.
In the proposal, it is suggested the restaurant will cater for around 40 people, employ around 35 members of staff and will be open from 11am to midnight every day.
The store would be the second to open in Kent, joining the restaurant at Chatham Dockside.
Those wishing to support or object to the application can submit their comments online here.
