A teenage girl was left bruised and swollen after two men repeatedly punched her in the face.
The 19-year-old was walking through Sharnal Lane, in Snodland, when her attackers approached her from behind and started to follow her.
They stopped her in an isolated area, close to garages near Nevill Road, and ordered her to hand over her mobile phone.
When she refused, they both struck her in the face several times.
One of the men grabbed her arms in an attempt to search her pockets. They fled empty handed, towards Saltings Road.
The alleged incident happened at about 10.10pm on Sunday, February 23, but police have just released details.
DC Hayley Campbell said: "Thankfully the victim was fortunate not to have suffered any serious injuries but this doesn't detract from the fact that this was a very serious crime committed against a woman who was walking alone.
"The victim knows this area very well but has never seen these men before."
Both offenders had foreign accents.
