Police called after fallen tree blocks lane of the A249 Sittingbourne Road causing delays

Drivers faced delays on the A249 Sittingbourne Road after a fallen tree blocked a lane of traffic.
Officers from Kent Police established a cordon at the turning to Hatherall Road and there were queues going back towards the centre of Maidstone.
The road was clear by 7pm.
Gusts of up to 80mph are currently sweeping across southern England as Storm Barney hits.
High winds are expected to ease shortly after midnight.
