Probationer police officers were out in force in Bearsted today, as part of a winter road safety day.
The team, posted on the A20 Ashford Road, have been stopping cars and conducting checks to ensure they are roadworthy and driven safely.
Around 20 officers were there this afternoon, and three squad cars parked in a layby.
A similar day of action, last Thursday, saw officers stop 94 cars. Seven drivers were reported for speeding, one for failing to have a valid test certificate and another for driving licence offences.
In total 19 drivers given advice regarding minor defects on their vehicles that needed to be fixed. Four were instructed to make repairs to avoid further police action.
PC Martin Kennett said: "Everybody has a responsibility to drive safely, particularly at this time of year when driving conditions can be hazardous. This includes having a roadworthy car and obeying speed limits.
"The vast majority of motorists were grateful for our advice and local residents were pleased to see officers dealing proactively with speeding and road safety in the area."
