British Transport Police attend a 'suicidal person' at Maidstone Barracks train station

Railway officials say the situation is now "under control" following reports of a "suicidal person" at a train station.

British Transport Police (BTP) and a police helicopter scrambled to Maidstone Barracks after receiving reports of a distressed passenger at the station.

A spokesperson for Southeastern said: "There was some disruption at Maidstone Barracks following reports a suicidal person was in the area.

"We received a report of a distressed passenger at 2.10pm this afternoon. British Transport Police attended and the situation was resolved by 2.45pm.

"There is no disruption to train services."
