After a stand-off lasting about four hours a man has come down off the roof of a building at Hermitage Lane.
Police were called to the site shared by Maidstone Hospital and Priority House, a mental health unit, at 12.10pm this afternoon after concerns were raised for a man's welfare.
It was initially reported that the man had climbed onto the roof of the hospital itself, but a spokesman for Maidstone Hospital said a patient had, in fact, climbed onto the roof of a building managed by Kent and Medway Social Care Partnership Trust.
Witnesses said the man was located on the roof near the birthing centre at the hospital.
The trust has been approached for comment.
