Detective Inspector Susie Harper said: “It takes seconds for a thief to strike, but it also takes seconds to secure your vehicle.
“Ensuring that keys are not left near front doors, or on view through windows, removing all valuables from your vehicle and parking in well-lit areas are all really simple ways to make it difficult for car thieves.
“We use a variety of overt and covert techniques to target this type of criminal and both detect crime and deter it, but there are lots of simple steps that vehicle owners can take to make it as difficult as possible for car thieves to strike.”
