Police recover stolen property in raid

AN early police raid on a flat in Maidstone town centre this morning resulted in an arrest and the seizure of stolen property.
Maidstone and Malling's tactical team carried out an early morning raid on a flat at Sunningdale Court as part of an anti-burglary initiative to target offenders and control property crime in Maidstone.
Five constables, led by sergeant Bryan Whittaker, took their search warrant and raided the flat at 7.30am this morning.
Sergeant Whittaker said of the operation: “This is all part of a hands-on approach to try and search out those people who may be involved in burglary. If we go in actively not only do we get the job done efficiently but we let the public know we are there. This is what the team does all the time, and we find this sort of operation pretty effective.”
Officers discovered items believed to be stolen, including electrical equipment and official paperwork. Syringes and other drug taking equipment were discovered in the flat.
The items were taken away for further investigation, and one man was taken into custody.
