Police at A249 traveller site after Hildenborough caravan theft

Police have descended on a traveller site after a caravan was reported stolen.
Around half a dozen police cars were joined by rural 4x4s off the Maidstone-bound A249 on Tuesday evening.
The force was spotted on Sittingbourne Road, following a report of a theft in Hildenborough.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at 7.40am on Tuesday to a reported theft of a caravan from outside a property in Ring's Hill, Hildenborough.
"At around 2pm enquiries by officers led them to an area off the A249 near Stockbury, where the vehicle was located and recovered.
"A 48-year-old man from Sittingbourne was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. He was subsequently bailed pending further enquiries, until August 5."
Rush hour commuters spotted police at the site between Rumstead Lane and Roydens car dealership at around 5.30pm.
