Vote today for KCC councillor for Maidstone Central in by-election after death of Lib Dem Cllr Dan Daley

The polling stations are open for voters to chose their new Kent County Council representative.

Voters in Maidstone go to the polls to elect a new councillor for the Maidstone Central Division, which includes the wards of Allington, Bridge, Fant, Heath and High Street.

Six candiates are contesting the ballot. They come from the Green, Lib Dem, Conservative, Reform UK and Labour parties, with the addition of one indendent hopeful.

The vacancy has arisen following the death of Lib Dem Cllr Dan Daley last March. He had held the seat for 22 years.

The polling stations stay open until 10pm, but you must remember to take photo ID with you or you will not be allowed to vote. A passport or photo driving licence is acceptable.

Two of the candidates – Stanley Forecast (Con) and Stuart Jeffery (Green) – are already Maidstone borough councillors.

The KCC Maidstone Central Division is a two-member ward with the other existing councillor being Conservative Cllr Tom Cannon, who was elected in 2021.
