Cornwallis Academy has been forced to close its doors this morning following a power cut.
The secondary school and sixth form centre in Hubbards Lane, Linton is contacting parents to ask them to make arrangements to collect their children.
The outage was caused by a fault in an underground cable which disrupted supplies to about 500 homes in the Heath Road area.
Power was fully restored at the school by 12pm but the site is expected to remain closed for the remainder of the day.
UK Power Networks said the power cut happened just after 7.30am this morning and engineers are still working to reconnect 145 properties.
A spokesman said: "We apologise for any inconvenience this is causing and would like to reassure these customers that we are working to turn their power back on as soon as we can."
The utility company's community support team is currently at work in the car park outside St Nicholas Church offering support for customers. This includes a charging point, WiFi and hot drinks.
Repairs are expected to be completed by 4pm.
