A minor power cut affected a number of homes and businesses in Maidstone this afternoon.

The outage forced McColls and RBS in Jubilee Square to close, as well as five others nearby.

The cause was a fault in the network and supplies were restored just after 3pm.

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: "We understand how difficult it is to be without power and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
