A council is asking its residents and businesses how they would like to see the place where they live and work develop in the future - and offering rewards for a response.

Maidstone Borough Council has launched its 2024 Resident Survey which will run until Sunday, October 22.

The council said: “We want to hear from the people who live and work in the borough about the services provided and how we can improve for the future.

“It is important to the council that residents are at the heart of all the decisions we take, and it is essential that we understand the key issues and challenges that people are facing.”

A new partnership administration of Green, Independent and Lib Dem councillors took over the running of the council from the Conservatives following the May elections.

The new cabinet has announced its intention of “putting people and the environment first.”

The survey will give all residents the opportunity to tell the council about their experiences of living in Maidstone, and the information will be used to help shape future policies on issues such as housing, health, well-being, waste, recycling and the cost of living.

The leader of the council, Cllr Stuart Jeffery (Green), said: “The knowledge and understanding of people living in Maidstone are extremely valuable to help inform the decisions we make as a council for the future of all of us.”

Every resident who completes the survey can enter into a prize draw with a chance of winning a variety of prizes including family tickets to Maidstone United FC, tickets to Cinderella at the Hazlitt Theatre, a family day out at Kent Life Heritage Farm Park or a bowling session at Hollywood Bowl.

In addition, everyone who enters the prize draw, will be eligible for a seven-day gym pass at Maidstone Leisure Centre.

The survey is open to Maidstone residents aged 18 or over.
