Return of 'the mouth of Kent'

00:00, 24 October 2003

VETERAN keeper Maurice Munden has come out of retirement to help Maidstone United out of a goalkeeping crisis.

The 39-year-old former Dover, Ashford and Folkestone keeper had been concentrating on his golf since spending last year with Folkestone Invicta.

But with both Maidstone's first choice keepers, Kevin Hudson and Danny Morrin, injured, Stones boss Jim Ward has coaxed the veteran keeper back to the game. Munden will play for the Stones on Saturday as they take on Slade Green in the Kent League at Bourne Park.

Nicknamed "the mouth of Kent" by rival fans and famed for his outrageously loud goalkeeping jerseys, Munden was a cult hero during his spell with Dover, whom he helped to the Southern League Premier Division title in 1992/1993.
