Child airlifted to hospital after being hit by car on A26 Tonbridge Road in Maidstone between Tesco Express and Cherry Tree pub

A three-year-old child has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car.
The A26 Tonbridge Road in Maidstone is closed from near the Esso Tesco Express up to the Cherry Tree pub.
Officers say they were called to a collision between a car and a pedestrian just after 12pm.
Paramedics also attended the scene and a three-year-old child was airlifted to a London hospital for treatment to injuries believed to be serious.
A police cordon is still in place near near the junction with Hambledon Court.
A spokesman for the air ambulance said: “Our crew arrived on scene at 12.30pm where they worked with paramedics and Kent Police to help treat the patient, involved in a road traffic collision.
“They then transported the patient to a major trauma centre by air.”
The road remains closed while officers investigate the circumstances.
