Robot's lesson in environmental awareness
00:00, 26 October 2001
A RAPPING robot is to visit primary schools in the Maidstone area to promote environmental awareness among children. Between October 30 and November 1 Cycler, who is made from recovered waste materials, will make a guest appearance at Lenham Primary School, Roseacre Junior School in Bearsted, Park Way Primary School and Senacre Wood Primary School in Maidstone, Sutton Valence Primary School, Headcorn Primary School, Coxheath Primary School and Barming Primary School.
The robot with a stomach made from plastic bottles and ears made out of tin cans dances and sings out the three R's message of reduce, reuse and recycle. The educational tool is provided for free by Waste Watch, a national agency promoting waste reduction.
The visits have been arranged by Maidstone council and its portfolio holder for health and the environment, Cllr Roger Berriman (Lab)
