A shoe store is shutting one of its branches today and moving elsewhere in the town after more than 12 years in a shopping centre.

Shoe Zone are closing their shop at The Mall in Maidstone for the final time tonight before the company returns to Week Street.

However, it will be moving into a new store next to American takeaway Wendy’s in the town centre next month.

An employee explained: "It's our final day at The Mall today. The shop has been here for about 12 years now.

"But we're not leaving the town - we're just moving out of the centre and into Week Street.

"We will set up there in about three weeks or so, so hopefully early November."

The store will replace the former Co-Op supermarket which closed in 2021 – just three years after opening.

Despite it shutting, the front of the shop has since been made into temporary artwork in a bid to attract tenants.

It means Shoe Zone will return to the same road they left more than a decade on.
