Woman, 23, arrested after man stabbed in leg in Maidstone

A young woman arrested after a man was stabbed in Maidstone has been given a police caution.

The 23-year-old was held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in police custody.

Police were called to Brewer Street at about 10.20pm on Monday after reports the man had suffered a knife wound to his leg.

A spokesman said the man - who is in his 20s - is being treated in hospital after being found in a car park.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The woman was later released with a caution for possession of an offensive weapon. ron Stevens - landlady of The Eagle, where the road meets Wheeler Street - said: "We were having a pool night and I saw an ambulance go down the street. It had its lights on but no siren.

"We thought it was lost. It went down the road, but we thought it was going the wrong way.

"We heard a little bit of shouting, but it happens a bit here."

Police were called to the scene by paramedics from South East Ambulance Service, who took him to the William Harvey in Ashford.
