Ashford man in court after suspected assault on Chatham man outside Hare and Hounds pub in Maidstone

A man is due to appear in court charged on suspicion of an assault outside a pub in a town centre.
Andrew Loosley was knocked to the ground outside the Hare and Hounds in Maidstone.
The incident happened on Saturday evening and police and ambulance crews were called the scene in Lower Boxley Road, shortly after 8.35pm.
The father-of-six, from Chatham, who was taken to Maidstone hospital before being transferred to London, remains in a critical condition in hospital.
On Monday a suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into custody.
John Gibbs, 18, of Nickley Wood, Ashford, has since been charged on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
Investigating officers are continuing to appeal for anybody who witnessed the incident or who has any information which could assist enquiries, to contact the appeal line.
