Suspect charged over ‘firearm’ reports in Knightrider Street, Maidstone

A suspect has been charged after a man was reportedly seen brandishing a firearm in a town centre.
Police were called to Knightrider Street in Maidstone at about 7pm yesterday (September 16) after someone was allegedly seen in possession of what appeared to be a handgun.
Officers attended the scene and at 7.20pm Josh Edwards was arrested and taken into custody.
Following a search of the area, officers then located a suspected air weapon in a bush.
Edwards, of Fairmeadow, Maidstone, has been charged with possessing an imitation firearm in a public.
The 32-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
