Suspect package found in town centre

BOMB disposal experts have been called into action after a suspect package was found in Maidstone High Street (Rudolf Richter writes).
The package was seized by police officers at 9.30am and taken to Maidstone Police Station in Palace Avenue to be examined.
An ambulance, bomb disposal van and police patrol car were seen rushing to the police station at midday. It is not thought that the package contains explosives.
