A SUSPICIOUS looking bag left behind at a motorway services area caused temporary traffic chaos near Junction 8 of the M20 near Maidstone today.

The blue holdall was left at the services at the Junction 8 Leeds/Hollingbourne turn-off at around 8am.

A police patrol was called out to inspect the holdall and the services were coned off for more than 20 minutes.

A spokesman for Maidstone and Malling Police said: “We made some local enquiries and checked the bag. It was discovered that the bag contained clothes and had probably been left behind by someone using the services.”
