Two arrested after suspicious parcels thrown into Maidstone Prison

Detectives have arrested two men after two suspicious parcels were found to have been thrown over the wall of a prison.
Police were called at 4.15pm on Sunday and found that suspected drugs and mobiles phones were thrown into the grounds of Maidstone Prison.
A search of the area was carried out and patrols in Week Street located two people matching a description of the suspects.
They were reported to have attempted to resist arrest and one of them ran away from officers, before he was located again in Sandling Road.
A 19-year-old man from Southall, Middlesex, was arrested on suspicion of throwing a prohibited article into prison and for resisting arrest.
A man, aged 18 from Hanwell, London, was also arrested, for throwing a prohibited article into prison and escaping from lawful custody.
Both men have been bailed to return to a police station on May 31.
