A celebrity brainbox made a special appearance at a charity quiz night.
Shaun Wallace, aka The Dark Destroyer, helped host the event at Bower Grove School in Maidstone.
Mr Wallace has featured on ITV’s The Chase since 2009 and is one of six “chasers”.
He is a barrister and lecturer, as well as a former winner of BBC's Mastermind quiz show.
The 63-year-old took part in the event on Saturday (April 27) to raise funds for the Mid Kent Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.
Run entirely by volunteers, the group supports more than 65 people with MND in Medway, Maidstone and surrounding areas.
They aim to ensure anyone living with the disease can access any information, support or equipment that they need.
It is the sixth time Mr Wallace has hosted for the charity.
In January 2021, he opened up about his parents on ITV’s The Chasers Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles.
During the three-part series, the star shared his personal goal to keep physically and mentally sharp.
“Every morning when I wake up I do 2,000 sit-ups because my mum suffers from dementia,” he said.
“My dad sadly died from motor neurone disease and it really saddened me to see them physically degenerate.”
The Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Gordon Newton, also attended and participated in the quiz.
Chairman Annette Scott said: “Shaun has already helped us to raise more than £12,000 and this has enabled the branch to fund support days at local hospices, provide vital equipment and complimentary therapy sessions.
“All of these things make a huge difference to people living with this dreadful disease.
“We do hope our celebrity quiz will be an annual event so please keep an eye on our website or Facebook page so that you can secure your place next time.”
The event was a sell-out and raised £2,500 – with 100% of the profits going to MND Association.
