A Grade I listed barn that dates back over 600 years is due to get a make over.

The barn is almost all that remains of Boxley Abbey, founded in 1146 and home to an order of monks until 1547 when it was dissolved by Henry VIII.

The barn was added in the early 14th century and was initially the abbey's hospitium, but after the dissolution was used as an animal barn.

Up to 70 conservation experts and volunteer heritage enthusiasts from all walks of life will be on site to carry out vital maintenance and repair work to the barn and the surrounding ancient walls.
