From high-speed police chases to Python discoveries, it's been a week full of interesting stories.

Here's a round-up of some of the most read pieces from across Maidstone, Malling and the Weald.

1. A 10ft python on the loose for more than three months after escaping, was finally found in a tree above a Tesco car wash.

The reptile, named Zombie, disappeared from its home in Larkfield 100 days ago, sparking panic.

Dozens of residents pitched in to help owner, Chris Cini, track down the female Coastal Carpet Python who is now safely back home. To read the full story click here.

2. A road was closed for nearly an entire day after a man's body was discovered in a badly damaged car in the early hours of the morning.

Investigators discovered the body after being called to a crash in Bunny Lane in Frant, south of Tunbridge Wells.

3. A Mercedes driver has been jailed after filming himself chase a police car on the M20 at 120mph.

Banned motorist, Princely Imara, gave a running commentary of the high speed pursuit which included ranting against the police.

The 24-year-old spotted the police car heading to an emergency incident on the motorway in September last year and started following. For the full story and to see the video click here.

4. The murder trial of a man accused of stabbing his work colleague to death got underway this week.

David Squelch was arrested after James Wallington was killed at the Cory Environmental Recycling Centre in Tunbridge Wells earlier this year.

A jury at Canterbury Crown Court heard how Mr Wallington was stabbed 17 times with a Bear Grylls hunting knife.

Squelch has admitted carrying out the killing but denies murder. The trial will continue next week. For the full story click here.

5. The man who will be in charge of the final ever Vulcan flight today is a former Maidstone schoolboy.

Bill Ramsey moved to Kent at the age of seven, and went to Maidstone Grammar School before entering the RAF, aged 19.

The Vulcan XH558 mark two will make its final flight this weekend, a last tour of the county before its grounded for good. For more information click here.

6. A man has been charged with drink-driving after allegedly crashing his car in the early hours of the morning.

Residents in Otford woke to find a Nissan Micra abandoned in the village pond this week. The silver car, which was balancing on the water's edge, was later recovered.

7. Two people were arrested after a row at West Malling railway station this weekend.

A man and a woman, from the Maidstone area, were arrested on suspicion of endangering safety, assault and public order offences.

The pair, aged 28 and 29, were kept in police custody yesterday but have now been released on bail.

8. Residents delayed by a fallen tree in Maidstone this week were saved by a cheery resident, equipped with a chainsaw.

Gary Kilbey jumped into action when the large tree blocked Sittingbourne Road in both directions.

He worked with police and other members of the public to clear the road in less than half an hour. For the full story and more pictures click here.

9. A former director of a gentlemen’s club in Maidstone was charged after an arson attack.

It comes after police and firefighters were called to the Players Club in High Street last week.

Officers roped off the lower end of High Street near the Medway Bridge while firefighters dealt with two fires inside – one upstairs and one near the front of the building. For the full story click here.

10. Thieves left a trail of destruction after breaking into a fitness centre this week.

The owners of Evolution Strength and Fitness in Aylesford were called late Friday night to be told the building's alarm had been triggered.

When they arrived at the gym they found both security doors had been smashed and several items had been stolen.
