Travellers have moved into a field in Allington.

Around 25 caravans have settled at Bridge Nursery, off the London Road, and Kent Police have attended the site.

A spokesman for the force said no crimes have been committed and that they first received reports at 7.53pm yesterday.

The site is on privately owned land but officers from Maidstone council are keeping an eye on the situation.

At 8am this morning a group of travellers also moved on from a temporary settlement in Hermitage Lane.

They initially appeared on the plot at around 8pm on Tuesday - a move that attracted complaints from neighbours.

The site was next to a row of derelict Royal British Legion Industries bungalows which were the scene of a suspicious fire in the early hours of the previous morning.
